About the Role

We are now seeking applications from experienced Machine Operators to join us in sunny Gisborne. We are also interested in hearing from people that have a proven track record with machine operation not in Food Production. You will harness your skills and knowledge within the manufacturing/FMCG sector with a company that has major growth forecast.

 

Duties

·         Operate food manufacturing machinery, specifically Pro Pac Bagging Machines and Isheda Multi Weigh Heads

·         Work in a cold room environment (between 2C and 6C)

·         Cover various shifts (morning and afternoon), full availability required

·         Work safely and adhere to food hygiene rules

·         Repetitive movements and standing for long periods required in all roles

·         Drive accountability, efficiency and exceed Production KPI's

·         Support continuous improvement programs and the change management process

 

Skills

 

·         Ability to work at a very fast pace with a focus on achieving KPI's

·         Reliable transport required as the site is not accessible by public transport

·         Experience within a manufacturing environment

·         Mechanical aptitude

·         Strong work ethic and punctuality

·         High attention to detail

LeaderBrand Produce is one of New Zealand’s largest and most diverse horticultural businesses with operations in Ashburton, Matamata, Pukekohe and based in Gisborne. 
As a large scale farming operation we grow, pack, distribute and market a wide range of fresh vegetable and salad. With the recent opening of our new Salad Factory we are looking for additional team members.
The Role
As a Machine Operator at LeaderBrand you will be working within a Production environment producing packaged salads. Each day you will be working as a valued member of the team in a fast paced, tight deadline driven environment. You will be accountable for producing high quality salad products in an efficient and timely manner to meet and exceed production plans as well as present LeaderBrand products to the quality our customers expect.
You will be responsible for the efficient running of production and you day will be varied. You will also make sure all procedures are conducted in a safe manner by following all company policies and operating procedures. On-the-job training will be provided to help you understand how to complete the job better and to enhance your knowledge of food safety, so your willingness to learn and keen attitude to improve will be well regarded.
The successful candidate will be able to :

be motivated to hit production output targets
show a high level of numeracy and literacy skill for accurate recording of information for production and quality purposes as well as maintain accurate paper work and the testing of product during run. Ability to read and understand SOP manuals.
Set up machines & maintain cleanliness during production shift.
Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed, product flow etc.) on computer control panel as needed.
possess great hygiene practice
Perform constant checks of product specifications to ensure customer expectations on final product made are exceeded. 
Report any machine-related concerns or flaws with product to the relevant parties.
Assist fellow team members during shift operation.
Adhere to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear).
stand and be on your feet for long periods at one time.
Shifts
Hours of work are 6pm – 3am or 3am – 12pm

For the right candidate, you will be rewarded with a competitive hourly rate. If you are living outside of Gisborne contribution to moving may be considered.
